Burnin'
Sky: From Left to Right: Gary "Lightning", Jeff "Rain"
Merrill, Jeff "Thunder" Flanders, Johnny Law
Burnin' Sky is a tribute band to BAD COMPANY. BAD COMPANY has brought so
much to our daily lives since the 70's through today. Paul Rodgers, BAD COMPANY, their management agency, Lucy Piller
of www.allrightnow.com, which is a Free - Bad Company - Paul Rodgers Fan Website, and Chris Crawford
are fully aware of my contributions. Thank you Paul, Chris and Lucy for your support.
Jeff "RAIN" Merrill is our Lead Vocalist. After intensive auditions with other lead vocalists
from around the twin city area, Jeff extensively studied Paul Rodgers over the years. With his vision and passion for BAD
COMPANY, and his vocal style, I offered him the lead vocalist position. Thank you Jeff for helping us make this happen.
Jeff "THUNDER" Flanders joined our team as our drummer.
Welcome aboard THUNDER! Jeff comes from an extensive drumming background. Playng in a variety of bands in the Twin Cities
and, has entered in drum compititions over the years. Jeff also was in the USAF drum and bugle corp.
Gary "LIGHTNING": Bass Guitarist. Gary brings a ton of knowledge and experience
to our table. He was a bass player for the band: "AVALANCH" in the 80's and have air play in the U.S. They
backed up bands such as White Snake and many others while doing studio work. Gary's been around the horn. Gary called
me and introduced himself. Needless to say, Gary passed his audition with flying colors.
Johnny Law: Lead Guitarist. What can I say. I put this together, I should be able to have
the lead guitar part! Plus I take the weather with me where ever I go.
I was born in Detroit, MI and then moved
to Chicago, IL for a while. I was 12 when Ted Nugent stuck his guitar in my face at the Michigan State fair in 1968 w/the
Amboy Dukes playing: "Journey To The Center of Your Mind". Boy did that ever set me off. It is my greatest honor
and privilege to be working with some of the best in the business. I would also like to thank my many friends over the years
who are musicians and for years of friendship and support as a musician.
My music background is of original material
and covers. I started recording originals in 1974 with our band called "SPECTRUM" in northern Illinois and HEADWIND
from 1975 - 1977.
A very special thank you goes to my dear close personal friend, Terry Bose. One of the worlds
most excellent drummers I have ever known. Terry devoted his time and energy to rock w/me as a growing guitarist.
I would also like to thank Mark & Bill from our band HEADWIND. We all had a great time doing covers. Thank you
Mark for booking all the shows and leading by a great example on your endless style of professional and personal courtesy
to all we met. My hats off to you and your wife for putting up with us.
As the story goes, Terry Lewis or Jimmy
Jam came to Freeport, IL one night while our band HEADWIND was doing a show at Freeport Sr. High. One of them approached
me at the time for an original song Prince has performed in concert. (I'll talk to you about it when you send me an e-mail
for more details). johnnylaw@johnnylaw1.com Nick St. Nicholas from "Steppenwolf",
and keyboardist Dave Micheals, that went on tour with Ken Hensley and "Uriah Heep" recorded on my original
material in 1983. I'm the original bass player for "Impaler" here in the Twin Cities, along with Sonny Griffin (guitarist)
who know heads the band: "WILD SIDE" a tribute to Motley Crue.
I played lead guitar for "STAINLESS
STEEL" back in the early 90's that sent in material to Warner Brothers. As well as contracted as a guitarist w/Danny
and the Juniors on tour (Yo, FRANK!) and Aloma Gibson from Jr. Walker and the All Stars. I have had air play
on numerous FM rock stations throughout the midwest with "STAINLESS STEEL" including but not limited to KQRS 92.5
FM for local licks.
Johnny Law P.S. Thanks Paul!
